Frequently Asked Questions

Green Peas

I’m Dr Shy Vishnumohan, APD PhD—Perth dietitian & Food Scientist supporting fertility, pregnancy,

GLP-1 and post-bariatric care.”

    1. Who do you help?
Women moving through life's biggest transitions - fertility (natural preconception & IVF nutrition) , pregnancy, gestational diabetes (food & lifestyle only), weight loss (post-baby changes) including GLP-1 nutrition and post-bariatric care.

    2. Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book yourself in.
If you plan to claim Medicare (CDM), ask your GP for a referral first.

    3. Can I claim a rebate?

    • Medicare (CDM): Possible with a GP referral.

    • Private health: Many Extras policies rebate dietetics—funds differ, so a quick check with yours helps. I’ll issue invoices for easy claiming.

    4. In-person or telehealth?
Both work beautifully. See me in Perth or via secure telehealth Australia-wide—same care, same resources.

    5. Why no 30-minute bulk-billed visits?

My care model is designed for deep personalised care — not rush. At your first session, we deep dive into your world (I’ll learn your story—goals, routine, medical history, supplements, labs. lifestyle), I then build a custom plan between visits, and hand it over at the follow up—so you leave confident and start immediately. Private health rebates may apply (check your fund).

    6. Do you give meal plans?

I don’t do 7-day meal-plan jails. I build structure and rhythms that fit real life—personalised and flexible, built around you, not pulled from a template. Learn about my Nourish to Add™approach

    7. Supplements & lab tests—can you advise?
Within APD scope, yes. Expect sensible guidance (no kickbacks) and a letter to your GP/OB/endo with suggested tests when appropriate.
No affiliate arrangements: I don’t use promo codes, earn commissions, or sell products. If I recommend something, it’s because it fits you—not because I’m paid to push it.

    8. How many sessions will I need?

    Think structure, not forever.
Most clients book 3–5 appointments to build momentum, then space out—always adjusted to your life.

    9. Do you give advice by email between visits?

For safety and quality, I use email for quick updates/admin only. Any personalised advice or plan changes happen in appointments (or with your GP if urgent).

    10. Do you work with cultural diets, vegetarians or food intolerances?
Always. Your plan will respect your food culture and preferences—and we’ll work around symptoms and intolerances without shrinking your options.

    11. What’s your Fees & cancellation policy?
Life happens. Changes within 24 hours may incur a fee (full policy shown at booking). Fees are shown on the booking page.

Scope of practice: As a dietitian, and not a medical doctor, I am not qualified to diagnose any health conditions. I do not provide treatment for active eating disorders. I offer ED-aware nutrition care for clients not in an active ED and will refer to specialist services when indicated.
